Grand Funk Railroad

Mel Schacher and Don Brewer original members

Thursday, January 26, 2012 West Palm Beach. The 100th Anniversary of the South Florida Fair went out with a bang as Grand Funk Railroad brought down the house and biker night converged upon the Pepsi Stage tent. "Locomotion" got the audience on their feet and groovin' early on in the evening. Max Carl (from 38 Special, Jack Mack and the Heart Attack) still hits the high notes with emotional shivers as couples swayed to "Second Chance."

Don Brewer, original member and drummer for GFR, poured out an emotionally charged drum solo followed by the entire band joining in on percussion for "Drum Thing."  Bruce Kulick showed off his guitar licks on a flawless Star Spangled Banner played in Woodstock Jimi Hendrix style.  The show ended with crowd pleasing "We're An American Band."

OFC interviewed Don Brewer. Don tells the story of "sweet, sweet Connie"  mentioned in the lyrics of the band's most recognizable song "We're An American Band."
