Sunday, May 1, 2011. "It's a different vibe here!" Jeff Beck proclaims to an audience of South Florida fans on a hot and sticky West Palm Beach evening. Recent Grammy winner, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and most notably one of "the best" guitarists on the planet, Jeff Beck and his band graced the Tire Kingdom Stage for the final night of SunFest. Lifting his guitar up as a symphony instrument and performing music in a rock, jazzy, classical style that is uniquely Jeff Beck, it was an experience for fans in attendance like none other.
In tour de force guitar magnificence, Beck opened the set with the bluesy "Plan B" leading into mind blowing, powerful "Stratus." Hits were offered up from Beck's 2010 award winning album Emotion and Commotion including "Corpus Christi Carol" and "Hammerhead."
The band members are Rhonda Smith on bass, featured on solo, and drummer Narada Michael Walden. Jeff and the band ended the evening with the emotional classic masterpiece "Nessun Dorma" - the Puccini opera aria made famous by Pavarotti, Jeff Beck can now claim his guitar rendition as his own.
For fans who simply cannot get enough, what was missing were songs from Jeff Beck's latest release Rock 'n' Roll Party (Honoring Les Paul). His newest music may be reserved for Beck's Iridium Tour engagements with Imelda May and her Band.
