June 14, 2011. According to Playbill News source, it is confirmed, Billie Joe Armstrong will play the drug-dealing fiend St. Jimmy in the film version of the Broadway musical American Idiot. A 2013 release date is planned by Tom Hanks' Playtone Productions.
Armstrong, of the Grammy award winning band Green Day, played the role of St. Jimmy on various dates while the blockbuster rock opera ran on Broadway and, most recently, for the final month last April. Casting and additional personnel for the film "American Idiot" have not been announced.

Green Day's American Idiot National Tour will hit the road December 2011 kicking off in Toronto. The show features all of the songs from the album American Idiot, some B-tracks and a few of the songs from Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown. Highlights include "American Idiot," "Jesus of Suburbia,""Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "21 Guns," and "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)"
